REQUIRES EDIT MENU PERMISSION

Editing a Menu Item

To edit an existing item (menu folder or map link) in the menu hierarchy, edit the Details section as required:

  1. Select the item in the Menu hierarchy.
  2. In the Caption text box, type the name you want to display on the homepage menu for the item.
  3. If the item is a map link:
    • Edit the path in the URL box as required.
    • Select the Open in new window check box if you want the item to be displayed in a new browser window when a user clicks on its link.
  4. Click on the << Update button. The item will be amended with the new details.
  5. NOTE: Do not click on the + Add New button: this will create a new item at the end of the Menu hierarchy with the details you have just entered.

  6. If you want to change the position of the item in the Menu hierarchy use drag and drop to reposition the item. The yellow arrow indicates a target item: when you drop the item, you are prompted to choose whether to insert it:
    • Above
At the same level as the target item but one place higher in the Menu list, at the same level in the hierarchy.
    • Inside
      Nested within the target item

NOTE: You cannot nest map links. During drag and drop positioning, you can only place a map link above or below an existing map link.

    • Below
At the same level as the target item but one place lower in the Menu list, at the same level in the hierarchy.

  7. When you are satisfied with the item settings and position, click on the Save Changes button. The item is updated in the homepage template and can now be viewed on the site's homepage. If you do not want to apply your changes, close the Menu Editor browser tab without clicking on the Save Changes button. You will be prompted to Leave or Stay. Select Leave to close the tab or Stay to return to editing.
